In many respects, the order processed by IVECO MAGIRUS Weisweil earlier this year was quite remarkable: 45 highly mobile multipurpose vehicles for difficult rescue operations which usually go by the name of "rescue vehicle with crane".

All the vehicles (manufactured according to customer requirements) were designed for use in mountainous regions (drive configuration 6x6x6, GVW 27,000 kg, engine performance 298 kW/400 HP). Power transmission can be carried out on the three axles, which - for better manoeuvrability - are all steerable.

In each case, a superstructure was installed which utilised the distinctive AluFire design. As each vehicle body was elastically mounted on the chassis, the roller shutters could also be opened in very rough terrain without any problems. In addition to the usual equipment onboard an RW rescue vehicle lifting equipment, hydraulic spreader and cutting gear as well as a range of special search equipment for earthquake victims were stored in the 6 equipment lockers. A hydraulically-driven cable winch was mounted on the chassis; at the rear a crane with a working radius of 12 meters was installed.

Delivery took place from February through to the summer of 2008; all vehicles were stationed throughout the Istanbul region.
