FP200 Gold® and FP Plus™ received BASEC and LPCB approval |
Prysmian’s FP200 Gold® and FP Plus™ cables have been installed in Booths Food Store, a family owned supermarket chain within the MediaCityUK site at Salford Quays. The £1.2 million shop includes a café and the first food store for the development in Manchester. MediaCityUK is the new home for BBC North, a new multi-million pound studios facility, a new campus for the University of Salford and over 60 small businesses.
MediaCityUK is a 200 acre site, caters for thousands of people on a daily basis and safety is of paramount importance for the development’s only food store. Consequently, FP200 Gold® has been used for the fire alarm system and FP Plus™ for the disabled refuge in the shop and café area.
FP200 Gold® and FP Plus™ comply with fire alarm standard, BS 5839 and the emergency lighting standard, BS 5266 as “standard” and “enhanced” fire resistant cable. In addition, FP200 Gold® and FP Plus™ has received BASEC and LPCB approval and both incorporate Prysmian’s unique Insudite™, which greatly reduces the risk of third party damage.
SolidState Security carried out the work and Lead Engineer Mark Mather explains: ‘FP200 Gold® and FP Plus™ were specified for this project due to the products’ all-round quality and the fact that they have all necessary third party approvals.’
Mark continues, ‘The cable can be stripped with ease, enabling the installation process to be quick and efficient. My team particularly like the added benefit of the easy-to-carry reels as the handle allow us to get the cable on site with improved speed.’
SolidState Security began the installation in May and completed the project in October 2011.The Booths family have owned and developed the business through five generations, from one small shop to twenty-eight across the country. The brand new two-story store at the MediaCityUK will provide customers with a wide choice of locally sourced food and drink.
