FP PLUS is an ‘enhanced', damage resistant, dressable fire resistant cable that meets the requirements of BS 5839-1

Prysmian FP PLUS has been selected and installed as part of the emergency building services and used throughout 6 Bevis Marks, the new addition to London’s blossoming skyline at the heart of city.

Designed by Fletcher Priest Architects, 6 Bevis Marks is the result of Bevis Marks Developments Ltd - a joint venture between AXA and Black Rock and reaches 16 stories offering 160,000 sq ft of Grade A office space along with two roof gardens. Over 30,000m of Prysmian FP PLUS has been commissioned for use in the emergency lighting and fire alarm systems.

George Wright, Electrical Construction Manager at Skanska explained: “An enhanced grade BS EN 50200 / PH120 and BS 8434-2 cable was specified and the natural brand choice was Prysmian as it’s a company we know and trust.

“The cables had to be of the highest quality to ensure maximum fire safety in the unfortunate case of fire.”

Anticipating a high footfall, choosing a cable that retains circuit integrity that can be relied upon was essential to allow the occupants enough time to evacuate to safety.

Positioned next to the Gherkin, 6 Bevis Marks replaces an outdated 1980s building and now reconnects several pedestrian routes which significantly improve access to outside areas.

As part of the sustainability agenda 50% of the existing structural mass was reused to reduce the embodied energy and help it achieve an ‘Excellent’ BREEAM rating.
