Councillor Brian Coleman AM FRSA, Chairman of the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority, hosted celebrations on Friday 4 December, marking the major renovation work that has been performed on Sidcup fire station.
Former LFEPA member and Bexley Councillor Colin Tandy unveiled a plaque in the new appliance bay, which has been extended to accommodate an additional fire engine at the station.
The station has also been fitted with extra resting facilities, a new kitchen and conference rooms and is the first station in London to benefit from grey water technology, where surface water is collected and recycled to flush toilets. Other green measures include photovoltaic panels and high performance double glazed windows.
Councillor Brian Coleman AM FRSA, Chairman of the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority said: "Once again this Authority is improving London's fire stations and bringing them into the 21st Century. This is an important and major investment for Sidcup fire station that will benefit firefighters, the environment and importantly the community, with the boost of an extra fire engine and better response times."
