Oshkosh Defense sponsors Honor Guard Gala, supporting the families of fallen military members |
Oshkosh Defense, a division of Oshkosh Corporation, is supporting the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) as a sponsor of its Honor Guard Gala, held April 5 at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C.
The event salutes and supports the families and loved ones of military members who paid the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country. “Nothing can replace the brave men and women who have given their lives for their country, but we can try to make life a little easier for their loved ones by helping them through the grieving process,” said Andy Hove, Oshkosh Corporation executive vice president and president of Oshkosh Defense. “We are truly honored to support the TAPS Honor Guard Gala. Through comprehensive emotional support services, TAPS has assisted more than 30,000 family members, casualty officers and caregivers as they work through the hardships that come with losing a loved service member.”
"It takes a community of care and support to help those left behind by our fallen military members," said Bonnie Carroll, founder and president of TAPS. "Your contribution will provide comfort to all who are grieving the death of someone who served in our military and made the ultimate sacrifice. We are deeply grateful for the support of Oshkosh Defense."
Funds raised at the gala will assist TAPS in providing round-the-clock tragedy assistance resources for anyone, whether friend or family, who has suffered the loss of a loved one who served in the military. Founded in 1994, TAPS provides comfort and care through peer-based emotional support, case work assistance, crisis intervention and grief and trauma resources.
Oshkosh Defense has a long-standing history of supporting military members, both in the field and when they return, and their families through charitable giving and program support. The company has partnered with organisations such as Fisher House, USO, Wounded Warriors Project, Armed Forces Foundation (AFF), Our Military Kids and others. Oshkosh also actively recruits from the military and currently employs more than 300 guard, reserve and retired military members.
