North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service now has a facebook site and a Twitter page. The Service aims to use social networking websites to enable it to develop relationships with the community and other fire services, to share ideas and experiences and to communicate safety messages to people in York and North Yorkshire.
Peter Hudson, Communications & Media Manager for the Service said: “Through our facebook page we hope to directly engage with people that may not be aware of what we are doing to improve safety in the community”. He went on to say: “Hopefully we will get feedback from people who do not attend our public meetings through Facebook and Twitter. Members of the public will be able to comment on our activities and provide us with valuable feedback”.
