North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service's fire fighters enter various challenges on a regular basis

Six members of North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service are embarking on a 200 mile run in September to raise money for Help for Heroes and The Fire Fighters Charity.

Andy Blades, Mark Naylor, Pete Schofield, Terrance Gregg, Graeme Casper and Justin Rowe are embarking on a charity endurance run starting from Southport in Merseyside on the 8th September 2011, and running 217 miles along the Transpennine Trail finishing at Hornsea, Humberside on the 14th September 2011.

The team will also be pulling a custom built trailer carrying their kit and hope to raise £5,000.

Justin Rowe says: “We would like to say a big thank you to Merseyside, Greater Manchester, Derbyshire, South Yorkshire, North Yorkshire and Humberside Fire and Rescue Services for supporting the team with accommodation and logistical support. Also a big thanks to the sponsors; Sweatshop Running, Sports in Science, Lucozade, Jorvik Physiotherapy and Castle Howard.”

In 2009 the team also completed a run from London to York and that along with the Transpennine Trail run is part of preparation for Terrance Gregg and Justin Row to run the east coast of the USA in the near future to raise money UK & US fire services & military charities.
