A Nittan Fire Detection System has been installed by Espat/Maxit Contracting to protect a historic a former steam mill in the village of Dolné Saliby in Slovakia.

Classing it as a crucial monument, the Trnava self-governing region undertook a restoration project to save and preserve the former steam mill building. Constructed of brick and wood between 1921 and 1922, the building originally housed machinery from the ancient Ganz-Danubius factory in Budapest, but unfortunately although the building has been preserved, the mill’s original equipment is no longer in place.

The building is now managed by the Heritage Museum in Galant, who have installed a new exhibition on the history of steam mills in the region.

The exhibition covers the period of the industrial revolution when modern technologies come to the fore in milling, and the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, when innovative mill equipment started to appear. Other spaces will serve as a depository for some of the museums 25,000 collection of historic items.

Nittan Evolution Series Detectors are installed throughout the 100-year-old steam mill. Primarily, Nittan EV-PYS Optical Detectors are installed for this project, as the detector comes with a fully integrated sounder instead of a separate sounder base.

Its sensor also drives and controls the EV-PYSVAD beacon base, with the entire Smoke/Sounder/Beacon assembly only taking one address for maximum system efficiency.

Quick and simple installation

This clever design makes for quick and simple installation, saving time and money, while remaining extremely competitively priced.

It also makes for an aesthetically pleasing solution, with a low profile and unobtrusive appearance.
