The new emergency response shelter from Hughes - to be unveiled at Fire & Rescue 2009 |
Hughes Safety Showers is launching a new rigid frame emergency response shelter on its stand R15 in Hall 2 at Fire & Rescue 2009.
Designed for rapid deployment, the new shelter consists of a one-piece folding frame with integral liner. It is a multi-purpose unit for use at incidents where protection or temporary accommodation is required. Typical applications include a command and control centre and casualty holding area. The shelter has been designed for maximum flexibility and can be used as a stand alone unit or in multiples connected together for additional space.
The anodised aluminium frame combines light weight with strength to give a robust and rigid structure. Easily carried to the scene of an incident, the shelter can be erected by two people in only 5 minutes. Guy lines and pegs or ballast tanks are used to secure it in place.
The standard liner for the shelter is made of neoprene-coated nylon which has a wipe-clean rubber coating. It has zip entry and exit doors and can be supplied with optional windows depending on the intended application. When the frame is folded for storage, the liner remains attached and is prevented from contacting the floor and becoming dirty. This reduces cleaning time, prevents damage to the liner and extends its life.
An insulated version of the shelter is available for use in extreme climates, and for hot countries this can include an optional air conditioning system. The range also includes a basic model which can be conveniently palletised for rapid deployment around the world to provide temporary accommodation for disaster relief.
Also featured on the stand is the latest version of the Hughes ultrasonic atomizer, which is used to decontaminate and disinfect in confined areas. It produces a fine mist which dampens surfaces without excessive wetting. The atomizer is now available with an electronic monitoring system to test surfaces before and after decontamination and comes with software to record, analyse and report test results.
A suit cleaning system which works in conjunction with the atomizer spray gun is also on the stand. The light damping spray produced by the atomizer is ideal for treating the internal surfaces and avoids the excessive wetting associated with other cleaning methods. Depending on the type of suit, there is an option to inflate it before introducing the disinfectant. The suit is supported on a rack during cleaning and can then be connected to an optional hot air drying system to complete the process.
