EMS Personnel who have died in the line of duty will be remembered at the National EMS Memorial Service in Colorado.

The National EMS Memorial Service has released the names of those who will be honoured at the 2011 National EMS Memorial Service, which will be held on June 25 in Colorado Springs, CO. The service will honour 43 EMS providers from 18 states who died in the line of duty.

The purpose of the National EMS Memorial Service is to remember and honour those emergency medical services personnel who have died in the line of duty and to recognise the ultimate sacrifice they have made for their fellow man. Since 1992, the National EMS Memorial Service has honoured 538 individuals.

Family members are presented with a medallion to symbolise eternal memory, a U.S. flag that has flown over the nation's capital to symbolise service to the country, and a white rose to symbolise their undying love. The names of each honoree are also engraved on a bronze oak leaf that is added to the National EMS Memorial "Tree of Life."
