Paul Hufnagel is the 8th District Vice President of the International Association of Fire Fighters
Retired Lansing fire fighter and Michigan Professional Fire Fighters Union President Paul Hufnagel has been elected 8th District Vice President of the International Association of Fire Fighters.

Hufnagel replaces Tommy Miller, who in January was nominated and elected to become General Secretary-Treasurer of the IAFF. Hufnagel was sworn in March 11.

"I am confident that Paul will represent the 8th District in an outstanding manner, and we all look forward to working with him to accomplish the work of our great union," IAFF General President Harold Schaitberger said.

Hufnagel was president of Lansing Fire Fighters Local 421 from 1985 to 1994.

He served as president of the Michigan Professional Fire Fighters Union since 1996, and has resigned from that position effective immediately.

"I am honored that the members of the 8th District have put their faith in me to lead our district through current and future challenges," Hufnagel said. "My predecessor - Tommy Miller - has worked hard to unite state associations, provide an increased level of membership services and protect fire fighter jobs. I plan to build on that as we move forward."

Hufnagel also has been active within the Michigan AFL-CIO. He has been president of the Greater Lansing Central Labor Council for 10 years and a member of the Labor Council's executive board for the past 30 years.

The 8th District of the IAFF includes Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio.
