MFC International (MFC Survival Ltd), the globally renowned specialist manufacturer of inflatable rescue, recovery, survival and sewer maintenance equipment, based in Tonypandy, South Wales, in the United Kingdom (UK), announced that the company has reworked the design of their inflatable shelters, now offering welded and taped frames and canopies.
New welded inflatable shelters
The new welded inflatable shelters offer a number of important benefits, which includes:
- Structure stays inflated for longer - The new PU welded and taped frame construction allows shelters to remain inflated for longer, without the need for topping up.
- Lightweight - The new PU fabric is 33% lighter than previous rubberized fabrics.
- Improved water resistance - Canopy seams are welded and taped, which guarantees the seams remain waterproof, even through repeated deployments.
- Improved hot weather performance - The welded and taped seams remain stable at high temperatures, whereas glued seams can become softer and gradually leak,
- Easier maintenance and repairs - The sectional structure allows for quick and easy replacement, if any parts become or get damaged over time.
- Detachable floor - A heavy-duty PVC floor aids cleaning and maintenance, and also allows the shelter to be deployed over existing structures or vehicles, if needed.
- Fire retardant construction - The canopy, frame and floor are all manufactured from fire retardant materials.

MFC International’s new shelter designs have also been selected by St. John Ambulance. They chose the shelters as they can be rapidly deployed, along with quickly and easily joined together, if and when required.
They also requested several special features, such as a translucent white roof for improved natural light and a number of additional attachment points for lights, curtains and oxygen cylinders.
