Justin Rowe received medal for the fundraising activities undertaken for a number of charities

Watch Manager Justin Rowe from Malton fire station has received the BEM (British Empire Medal) in the 2016 New Year’s Honours List, for the fundraising activities he’s undertaken for a number of charities.

This includes a mammoth run undertaken in 2013, which saw Justin and a number of his colleagues run to all the 225 fire stations in New York City over 7 days.

Justin says: “I would like to thank everyone who has supported my runs and fundraising activities in the UK and USA, including the Tunnel 2 Towers Foundation and Fire Department City of New York (FDNY), and North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.”

“I’m not hanging up my running shoes just yet though, as I am planning more runs in the UK and the USA supporting various charities in the near future.”
