The Cooksafe campaign is targeted
at young professionals in the
London area

London Fire Brigade’s recent kitchen fire safety campaign “Cooksafe” included three terrible cooking ideas in a Recipes for Disaster in their booklet.

Blazing beans, smokin’ sausages and boozy flambé are just three of the terrible cooking ideas included in a Recipes for Disaster booklet published as part of the London Fire Brigade’s recent kitchen fire safety campaign called Cooksafe.

Cooksafe is aimed at two very different audiences. The booklet was handed out to young professionals at an event at Borough Market, which is one of the world’s oldest and most renowned food markets, where a group of London firefighters helped a chef cook up a range of recipes and showed shoppers how to stay safe in the kitchen. Statistics show that young professionals account for over 25 per cent of all kitchen fires in London.

Events were also held throughout the week across nine London boroughs, targeting different audiences who have the highest number of kitchen fires - older people, families and people who live in rented accommodation. The week ended with each of the nine boroughs holding kitchen fire safety open days at Wembley, Ealing, Islington, Old Kent Road, Paddington, West Norwood, Shadwell, Addington and Forest Hill fire stations where over 4500 people received vital kitchen safety advice.
