INTERSCHUTZ are looking for tough firefighters, new ideas, and cocktails! |
A long-held tradition at INTERSCHUTZ is the four-day "World's Toughest Firefighter" contest. Contestants give it their all - and more. They fight head-to-head in a knockout system, and after four grueling days, the winner takes it all. In 2005 more than 20,000 spectators witnessed this spectacular event, drawing the active participation of 140 contestants. For more information, email Armin Taube from Moenchengladbach Fire Department.
The upcoming INTERSCHUTZ gives firefighters with bright ideas a chance to show their stuff in a special competition (the "Wizards Contest") staged by the German Fire Protection Association (vfdb) in partnership with Feuerwehr Magazin - a German magazine for firefighting professionals. The winners will be honored on Saturday, the last day of the show, at a ceremony where the prizes and trophies will be handed over. The call for entries will appear in the May issue of the magazine, and entries will be accepted up till August 31. The event is dedicated to promoting clever ideas, positive innovations and practical improvements which have already been successfully implemented.
A jury of experts will screen the entries, the best of which will be published in Feuerwehr Magazin and presented during the show at the vfdb stand. Readers of Feuerwehr Magazin and tradeshow visitors will choose the ultimate winners of the three top prizes worth € 3,333, € 2,222 and €1,111 respectively.
Entries should be submitted to: "Wizards Contest", c/o Feuerwehr Magazin, Kurt-Schumacher-Allee 2, 28329 Bremen, Germany.
Last but not least, amateur bartenders can go for gold by trying to create the best INTERSCHUTZ cocktail in two disciplines - i.e. with and without alcohol. There are no limits except that the cocktail should be of reddish colour to reflect the show's "red rooster" logo. Passionate amateur bartenders who are always trying out new recipes on their friends and experimenting with their own sophisticated creations should definitely take part in this contest sponsored by Deutsche Messe. A jury chaired by a professional bartender will select the winner. The recipes should be sent to INTERSCHUTZ team at Deutsche Messe, Messegelaende, 30521 Hannover, Germany.
