Bristol's ICP range will provide a long term solution for Norfolk FRS's PPE needs
Norfolk's 820 firefighters will be wearing Bristol Uniform's ICP PPE from early 2010 following the recent decision by the county's Fire & Rescue Service to adopt the new national identity protective clothing available as part of the ICP. Some 1,750 sets of complete head-to-toe PPE will be supplied during the present financial year to be followed by new station wear in 2010-11.
Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service's commitment to the project is expected to be followed by several other county fire and rescue services before the end of the year. The contract calls for two sets of PPE for each firefighter which include fire coats, trousers, gloves, boots, flashoods and helmets. The PPE contract alone represents a considerable investment by Norfolk County Council over five years.
The fire coats and trousers have a 3 layer construction using a PBI Gold® 205gsm Ripstop™ outershell coupled with a Gore Crosstech Airlock™ combined thermal and moisture barrier which also provides protection against bloodborne pathogens. The inner lining is a Nomex Comfort™ fabric.
