research and funding

Since research and development are important drivers of the German economy, the Federal Ministry for Research and Development (BMBF) has been using the Stiftverband Wissenschaftsstatistik to survey companies every two years since 2014 on how much money and creativity they invest in R&D.

The data collected is used as part of the reporting of the Federal Government, the EU, and the OECD and serves as a determining factor for the direction of German research and funding policy.
