| Sepura's radios have won another Hungarian government contract |
Sepura's second largest customer in Hungary, the National Directorate General for Disaster Management, has added Sepura's Repeaters to its substantial fleet of Sepura TETRA radios for its fire brigades.
In February 2007 the Hungarian government chose Sepura TETRA radios to operate on the country's national public safety network. This was the biggest single contract for TETRA terminals ever signed in Central Eastern Europe. The Hungarian Police became Sepura's major customer in the country.
In January 2008 Sepura won a second contract for the supply of over 6,000 TETRA radios to the Hungarian Government, including SRH hand-held terminals and SRG mobile gateways - all with GPS. This followed the re-structuring and modernisation of the country's fire service under the banner of the National Directorate General for Disaster Management and is one of the biggest orders by a fire service won by Sepura to date.
Such a remarkable contract win was the outcome of extensive trials of Sepura's products, whose performance, combined with Sepura's local partner's outstanding levels of service and support, impressed the Hungarian Government by delivering a complete customer satisfaction experience.
The Hungarian Fire Service has extended this contract and has now become the first fire and rescue organisation world-wide to select Sepura's Repeater function for its mobile gateway radios. This unique function is also available on Sepura's hand-held and covert radios. It repeats voice and data traffic substantially extending the geographical communication range between participating radios.
When operations fall outside the coverage of a TETRA network (TMO), users revert to Direct Mode (DMO) to maintain communications. If a team is then forced to spread out beyond normal DMO range - for example, if operating inside buildings - group communications could be seriously compromised. With a DMO repeater the working range of the group can be nearly doubled, thus ensuring that communications are maintained. Sepura's Repeater supports both normal and encrypted communication, thereby extending range without compromising security.
