Howe & Howe Inc., a subsidiary of Textron Systems Corporation, a Textron Inc. company, unveiled its latest innovations for the firefighting community – its next-generation Thermite EV2, an all-electric firefighting robot, as well as its new, handheld controller.

The Thermite EV2 is an all-electric firefighting robot operated by a software-driven controller to effectively target fires with a modular design, including a multi-position nozzle and additional attachments.

Thermite EV2

Howe & Howe’s Thermite EV2 is powered by a battery pack instead of a combustible engine; and unlike an oil-cooled engine, the Thermite EV2 does not require oxygen for power.

With the ability to operate several hours on a single charge and capable of moving farther into high-temperature, dangerous environments, it extends the capability of firefighters, while enabling them to maintain a safer standoff distance.

Handheld controller

Thermite EV2 is the first Thermite to be operated by a state-of-the-art, handheld controlle

In addition, the Thermite EV2 is the first Thermite to be operated by a state-of-the-art, handheld controller. It features an eight-inch screen and provides real-time situational awareness with recording capabilities. The controller receives regular software updates to ensure operators have the most recent, reliable technology at their fingertips.

It’s important that we give our first responders the best we have to offer so that they can complete their missions and return home safely,” said Geoff Howe, Senior Vice President of Howe & Howe, adding “Our Thermite EV2 and new handheld controller were designed based on user feedback to give firefighters the most powerful tools we can deliver. Moving forward, we intend to apply our all-electric technology and handheld controller capability to future Thermite models.”

Thermite firefighting robots

Thermite firefighting robots are able to navigate rugged terrain with a low chassis, as well as withstand exposure to extreme elements.

With the system’s advanced technology, unsurpassed mobility, and extreme durability, it’s an integral partner for firefighters everywhere.
