Organizers of one of the UK’s most prestigious Christmas events are taking visitor safety as seriously as mulled wine, mince pies, and festive entertainment. Concrete safety barriers and security gates have been keeping visitors to the Christmas market in London safe since it opened last month.

To protect market-goers from vehicles and to create clear walkways, event organizers enlisted the help of Hardstaff Barriers to install several temporary concrete hostile vehicle mitigation (HVM) barriers along the edge of the market area.

Weighing 2.5 tonnes, the Multibloc vertical concrete barriers are three meters long and are EN1317-2 approved. Two HVM vertical opening gates, which are PAS 68 impact tested, were also installed, providing a high level of protection while allowing easy access for authorized vehicles.

The company’s security experts have provided HVM barriers at a variety of other high-profile events

Public safety is at the top of the list of priorities for Hardstaff Barriers, the UK’s supplier of roadside safety barriers, temporary hostile vehicle mitigation (HVM), and perimeter security systems. As the trusted contractor for the UK Government’s National Barrier Asset (NBA) framework, the company’s security experts have provided HVM barriers at a variety of other high-profile events from the State Opening of Parliament to visits from the President of the United States.

Niall Griffin, General Manager of Hardstaff Secure, said, “It’s a pleasure to be part of this popular festive event once again and we’re pleased that our HVM barriers and gates are helping to keep market-goers safe."

"At events like this which attract a lot of people, security is just as important as the products and stalls on offer, if not more so. We urge other event organisers to seek expert assistance in the planning stages and when selecting the most suitable HVM products.”
