A section of new perimeter fencing has been installed in order to enhance security at the United Kingdom’s largest airport – Heathrow Airport in London. The new hostile vehicle mitigation (HVM) fence at Heathrow Airport will provide protection against the potential event of a vehicle-borne attack or threat.

Renowned UK-based safety barrier supplier, Hardstaff Barriers, worked alongside partner - Fernden Fencing, to install the steel ZoneGuard PLUS HVM system, a combined crash-tested barrier and fence solution tested to PAS 68 and IWA 14.1.

The ZoneGuard PLUS HVM system was installed on-site swiftly, thanks to the unique features of the combined barrier with fence system. The components of the ZoneGuard PLUS and fence are all fabricated and assembled off-site, thereby ensuring minimal on-site build time.

The ZoneGuard PLUS solution offers unique features such as crash-tested HVM barrier. The hostile vehicle mitigation system also offers a solution for both pedestrian and vehicle access gates, within the barrier run.

Enhancing security at UK’s Heathrow Airport

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Heathrow Airport welcomed over 80 million passengers annually and was also one of Europe’s busiest airports.
