Germany's fire departments mount showcase in Hall 5
The show is designed to motivate young people to consider firefighting as a career.

Germany's 102 fire departments, representing a combined workforce of around 30,000 professional firefighters, will be mounting a 440 sqm (4,730 sq. ft) group pavilion in Hall 5, at INTERSCHUTZ 2010. The pavilion will be themed "Professional Firefighters - Firefighting Profession - Action - Innovation - Safety" and is designed to get young people thinking about careers as firefighters.

In the "Action" zone, visitors will be able to look on as victims are rescued from a fire and brought back down to safety from high structures by specialized rescue teams. There will also be separate presentations by fire department paramedics.

The "Innovation" zone will appeal primarily to technically minded young people. It will include displays of research projects and operational and deployment models.

The "Safety" zone will profile the fire departments as "safe" employers. The will also be a presentation on the fitness training programs used for professional firefighters. The demonstrations will be projected onto a big screen.
