Motorola is giving customers the chance to win parachute jumps with the Red Devils |
The Enterprise Mobility Solutions division of Motorola, Inc. and the Red Devils, the official display team of the Parachute Regiment and the British Army, today launched an exclusive promotion offering daredevil consumers who purchase a TLKR T5 ‘Red' Walkie Talkie promotional pack the chance to win one of six tandem parachute jumps.
In addition, Motorola will donate £1 from the proceeds of every sale to the charity, Help for Heroes (www.helpforheroes.org.uk), which offers practical support to UK servicemen and women injured in the current conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Each month, competition entrants, who register their TLKR T5 ‘Red' product online at www.motorola.com/reddevils, will have the chance to win the first prize of a tandem parachute jump, strapped to one of the Red Devils' experienced tandem instructors from a height of 13,000 feet. Five runners-up will each win a goodie bag of Red Devils merchandise. The competition runs through January 2010 and the parachute jump prize can be completed at a number of airfields across the country, including Langar Airfield (Nottingham), Netheravon (Wiltshire) and Dunkeswell Airfield (Devon).
"We are delighted to partner with Motorola in this competition, which will help raise money for Help for Heroes and we look forward to giving each competition winner a memorable and exhilarating parachuting experience," said Major Paul Blair, DSO, Officer Commanding of the Red Devils. "Given the physical nature of what we do, we require a robust, reliable and dependable product that helps us coordinate on the ground and in the air and allows us to minimise the risks we face; Motorola's two way radios fit all of these requirements."
The first winner chosen in a draw in August will receive a special tandem jump. On arrival at the Drop Zone, he or she will be greeted by Major Blair. During the jump, two Red Devils will "dock" onto the winner and release trailing smoke during the jump. On landing, the parachutist will be presented with a video and photographic souvenir of his or her experience as well as a bottle of champagne and a certificate signed by the Red Devils.
"We are honoured to join together with the Red Devils, who have a long and distinguished history as world-class display and competition Parachutists, and we are very pleased to support the work that Help for Heroes undertakes in the UK.
Motorola's TLKR range is designed to work in the most demanding of situations |
In the same vein, Motorola is very proud of its two way radio products, in particular the award-winning TLKR T5, which brings the consumer market all the attributes of our world leading professional radio products," said Henrik Asbjorn, vice president channel growth operations, Enterprise Mobility Solutions, Motorola, EMEA. "The TLKR range is designed to work in the most demanding of situations, whether on the ground or jumping from a plane at 13,000 ft, it gives clear and precise audio."
The competition draw will be held on the first day of each calendar month and will include every customer registered during the previous calendar month. Selected winners can nominate other people to participate in their place and have six months to select a jump date. Tandem jump winners must be between 16 and 60-years old, weigh no more than 15 stones and be no taller than 6' 2". They are also required to complete a ‘fit to jump' medical certificate.
The TLKR T5 is a PMR 446 radio, which requires no special training or license and has a unique loop antenna delivering a range of six km. Each unit has eight channels and 121 codes, which offers 968 channel combinations. The TLKR T5 also has a built-in timer and can be used hands-free. Special promotional packs of the TLKR T5 ‘Red', which include two "Walkie Talkies", rechargeable batteries and a charger stand, are on sale at Maplin Electronics (Maplin has promised to make an additional £2 donation to Help for Heroes for every promotional pack sold in its stores) and online through Amazon.co.uk.
