The first clean agent brought to the market in 1994 was Dupont™ FM-200®. Introduced as an alternative to the ozone-depleting Halon agents, FM-200® received quick attention and acceptance as the next fire suppression agent.

Also known as HFC-227ea in NFPA 2001 Standard, this agent is an odorless, colorless, liquefied compressed gas that discharges as an electrically non-conductive, clear vapor.

comprehensive control system

The agent extinguishes fire by a combination of chemical and physical mechanisms. Stored in a sealed cylinder in a liquid state, FM-200® discharges through nozzles attached to a pipe network that is activated by a comprehensive control system of detectors and pull stations.

As an extinguisher, FM-200® leaves no residue and does not require costly clean-up, unlike sprinklers and other fire protection systems. The discharge occurs in 10 seconds or less and extinguishes the fire quickly and effectively. This fast extinguishment translates into minimal equipment/facility damage and little to no business interruption.

applications

FM-200® Clean Agent Fire Suppression Systems are great in applications ranging from telecommunications and data processing to switch gear rooms, military applications, and cell sites to high-tech medical applications.

This fire suppression is also a widely accepted replacement for Halon 1301. FM-200® does not displace oxygen and is safe for use in occupied spaces without fear of oxygen deprivation. FPS offers HFC-227ea/FM200 clean agent fire suppression systems through our quality line of Fike Products.
