FLAME-SIM training software has been purchased by Leduc Fire Services

Company's training software has been purchased by Leduc Fire Services

FLAME-SIM continues to expand its Canadian client base thanks to The City of Leduc Fire Services (LFS), located in Alberta, Canada. Leduc, a combination department, recently purchased four seats of the training simulation software as well as the Rugged Mobile Center.

FLAME-SIM will be used by LFS in order to strengthen a unique new program. Leduc Fire Services has recently implemented a program where they do not have a lieutenant position but they have a position called firefighter qualified (FFQ). The FFQ are senior firefighters with officer training that can act as a captain if required. LFS training is currently focused on increased officer level training for the FFQs.

When asked about FLAME-SIM, Captain Spencer Michelsen of Leduc Fire Services said: "Our hope is that FLAME-SIM will aid us in honing the current officers command skills, teaching new command skills, and developing confidence in fire ground command and officer level tasks."  Captain Michelsen and LFS also plan to use FLAME-SIM in order to evaluate firefighters that wish to become officers or FFQs.  "The confidence in fire ground command that stems from FLAME-SIM use could also potentially find a firefighter that has strong fire ground leadership abilities that is a good fit for the FFQ position."

LFS also sees great potential for FLAME-SIM in terms of training during the cold Canadian winters.  Michelsen said, "Because of the brutally cold winters that we have, it is sometimes difficult to have effective, interesting training.  FLAME-SIM is going to allow us to continue to work hard with out the risk of frostbite."  The Rugged Mobile Center purchased will also allow LFS to share their new frostbite-free training with surrounding fire departments.

FLAME-SIM is excited to get the simulation software up and running in their second Canadian station.  FLAME-SIM knows the simulation software will be successful in Leduc because of their enthusiasm and dedication to training.
