FIT helped contain a vehicle fire to the 3-car garage and limit exterior damage
Two properties worth millions are saved by firefighters using ARA Safety's FIT

The Upper Saddle River Fire Department used their FIT-5 devices by ARA Safety to save a mansion from significant amount of damage after a vintage car in its 3-car garage caught fire.

Once on scene, first responders deployed one FIT-5 unit through an open garage door. "Two of the three overhead garage doors were open when the first FIT-5 unit was tossed in; it knocked the fire almost completely down", said Fire Chief Erik Vierheilig. Since the Fire Interruption aerosol was able to ventilate through the open garage doors, the fire began to start up about a minute after the deployment.

A second unit was deployed to help further contain the fire and buy time until firefighting units arrived on scene. Even though Fire Interruption was allowed to escape, it still helped contain fire to the garage and prevent its spread. "The FIT-5 contained the fire and helped limit smoke and fire damage to the exterior of the structure and prevented damage to the interior of the residence", said Chief Vierheilig.

This was the first FIT-5 deployment by the Upper Saddle River Fire Department.
