FIA Fire Risk Assessment Council has announced that the FIA is to run quarterly CPD days

FIA Fire Risk Assessment ‘Extinguishers’ CPD Day.

The FIA Fire Risk Assessment Council has announced that the FIA is to run quarterly CPD days on various subjects. The FIA ran a pilot event in July this year and despite the fairly short notice managed to attract 52 delegates to attend a day on Passive fire protection.

‘Experts’ from the various ‘passive fire protection’ associations were invited along to provided short presentations on their respective fields, which focused on what a fire risk assessor must look for and consider when completing a fire risk assessment.

The format of July’s pilot event was deemed a great success and due to demand for such events, it has been included in the FIA events calendar and will be run on a quarterly basis.

The Council has identified ‘Extinguishing’ as its next preferred subject and would invite all practising Fire Risk Assessors to attend the FIA Fire Risk Assessment ‘Extinguishers’ CPD Day, on 17th February 2011.

The day is designed to help existing Fire Risk Assessors expand and build upon their knowledge about what to look for in regard to extinguishing products and systems when conducting fire risk assessments as well as providing an opportunity to ask experts about difficulties they have experienced.

With the help of trade association experts from BAFSA & FIA, topics for discussion at the CPD Day include sprinklers, portables, gaseous systems, water mist, foam systems, powder systems, kitchen systems and aerosol systems.

The full day’s training accounts for 7.5 CPD hours and every attendee will receive a certificate of attendance after the event.
