In an ongoing effort to enhance wildfire emergency preparedness and safety in the community, Emergency Preparedness in Calabasas, a Fire Safe Council (EPIC-FSC) is urging all residents to stay informed and connected through essential emergency notification services.
With the upcoming wildfire season, being well-prepared and informed is crucial to protect loved ones and property.
Getting prepared
"In the face of uncertainty, preparedness is our greatest asset,” explains Brian Cameron, President of EPIC-FSC, adding “By taking simple yet crucial steps to stay informed and ready, we empower ourselves to protect what matters most, our families, homes, and neighbors."
He continues, "EPIC is here to support every resident on their journey to preparedness, and together, we can face any challenge that comes our way."
Recommendations and steps
The local nonprofit recommends Calabasas residents do the following immediately:
- Schedule a Home Hardening Assessment:
Members volunteer their time and share their knowledge to help neighbors increase the likelihood of survival
Schedule a home hardening assessment with EPIC-FSC as soon as possible to fortify the property against wildfires and other potential hazards.
After learning how to harden homes from Cal Fire experts, members volunteer their time and share their knowledge to help neighbors increase the likelihood of survival and property protection from wildfire.
Protecting human life
During the free assessments, a certified expert from the non-profit will meet with local residents, sharing insight and suggestions to help protect against the threat of flying embers, direct flame contact, and radiant heat exposure.
EPIC-FSC’s mission is to harden all 8,400 homes in Calabasas, prioritizing and protecting human life, existing structures, and the unique habitat of the community. Don't wait until it's too late to safeguard the home, loved ones, and community.
