Importance of sprinkler systems

Sprinkler systems are designed to contain a fire ensuring businesses are often up and running within a short period of time"

Andrew Gausden, Business Safety Manager at East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, said “This is a timely reminder to other companies to invest in a sprinkler system which could protect your business from severe fire damage. A sprinkler system really can make a difference, as we have seen in 2019, when we attended a similar fire locally, which resulted in the total loss of a business. Sprinklers would have made the difference there.

He adds, “Sprinkler systems are designed to contain a fire ensuring businesses are often up and running within a short period of time due to limited damage.

Fire safety equipment key to containing damage

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service would like to highlight the importance of such fire safety measures, considering their importance in delivering benefits that far exceed the cost of installation and maintenance of the fire safety equipment.

Sprinklers do more than what people realize. An effective sprinkler system helps safeguard:

  • People
  • Firefighters
  • Jobs
  • Homes
  • Businesses
  • The economy
  • The environment

Greater uptake of fire sprinklers would make the country more resilient and competitive, and help ensure that needless fires do not hinder continuing economic recovery.
