Door-Stops new video is aimed at educating people about the fire doors

Door-Stop, the UK’s leading supplier of composite doors, has launched a new video to promote the importance of correctly specifying fire doors, in order to prevent the risk of prosecution and protect against the spread of fire.

Although fire doors should be integral to a building’s fire risk management strategy, they are often not given the consideration they deserve. As such, Door-Stop’s new video has been created to educate local authorities, housing associations and installers about taking precautions when it comes to the specification of fire doors – helping to ensure the safety of the people on the premises.

The video talks about implications of faulty Fire-Doors

Patrick Dean, Head of Sales and Marketing at Door-Stop, commented: “On average there are over 174 building fires every day, yet despite this figure, we are still not taking a robust enough approach to product specification. In fact, a recent report by the FDIS found that over 61% of fire doors inspected had problems with fire or smoke seals. This type of neglect can lead to prosecution or an unlimited fine from the fire service.”

“Our new video highlights the implications of installing a faulty fire door and emphasises the key facts surrounding their specification – too many people are dying from inadequate fire defences and more needs to be done to educate the entire supply chain.”

When it comes to fire safety, the duty of care to the inhabitants of a building is of utmost importance and with so much guidance available and reputable fire door suppliers to consult, such as Door-Stop, achieving adequate fire protection should be a straightforward matter. There is no need to risk not having a fully effective and certified fire door.
