National Dialogue on Preparedness open through September 10
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) are hosting a National Dialogue on Preparedness to supplement the mission and recommendations of the Local, State, Tribal, and Federal Preparedness Task Force. Through the National Dialogue, the Task Force is seeking input from stakeholders on what works, what needs improvement, and where there are trends in preparedness issues.
At the direction of Congress, the Task Force was formed in April to assess the state of disaster preparedness and make recommendations for improvement throughout the nation. It is comprised of 35 local, state, and tribal members - including National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) North Carolina Director and 2nd Vice Chair, Jeff Cash - and 24 federal ex officio members with diverse expertise in homeland security and emergency management.
The NVFC encourages individuals in the volunteer emergency services community to visit the National Dialogue on Preparedness website to provide input between now and September 10.
