D-Tec will launch a new, updated version of FireVu at International Firex 2009 |
D-Tec - part of AD Group - will be unveiling its latest CCTV-based Video Smoke Detection (VSD) technology at International Firex 2009 with the launch of a new, enhanced, version of its FireVu solution, as well as focusing on the growing take-up of VSD - beyond traditional customers - and the vital role it can play in the protection of critical infrastructure. The company is also hoping for success in the Fire Excellence Awards where it is a finalist in the key Export Innovation category.
The new FireVu system, on display for the first time at International Firex 2009, represents a major transformation in operational potential, with the implementation of an advanced flame detection algorithm - for the first time - and improved smoke detection algorithms, all backed-up by the increased performance delivered through the unit's chipset (from sister company ChipWrights).
Also at International Firex, D-Tec is shortlisted in Export Category of the Fire Excellence Awards because of its successful deployment of VSD in a growing number of tunnel projects worldwide. Applications of note undertaken by D-Tec and highlighted in the award submission include: the landmark Palm Jumeirah in Dubai, Italian road tunnels and the Sydney Harbour Tunnel. The winners of the Fire Excellence Awards will be announced at a ceremony on the evening of Tuesday 12 May at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole.
In terms of seminars, Ian Moore the Managing Director of D-Tec is scheduled to give a presentation at International Firex 2009 on Thursday 14th May (12.30 -1.00 pm) in the FIA seminar theatre on ‘Video Smoke Detection for Asset Protection'. This will concentrate on the need for organisations to carefully consider the impact large scale fires can have on their operations and to take preventative measures.
Said Ian Moore, Managing Director, D-Tec: "International Firex provides an ideal opportunity for us to demonstrate the potential of our Video Smoke Detection technology to deliver an early warning of fire in even the most challenging of environments, alongside new product developments such as latest generation FireVu. At this year's event we will also be stressing to fire safety professionals the need to take a broader view of VSD beyond large voluminous structures such aircraft hangars. It is now perfectly possible to consider deploying this technology for the asset protection of key areas of an historic building, the main thoroughfares in a shopping centre, the atrium of a corporate headquarters, the roof of a large department store or even to monitor the corridors of an office development."
