Chubb’s new Fire Alarm Control Panel manages all smoke detectors and sound alarms within individual properties |
Chubb Fire & Security Limited has been awarded a contract by Dunedin Canmore Housing to upgrade a fire detection system within an estate managed by the Edinburgh-based housing association. Chubb is a part of UTC Building & Industrial Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp.
Central to the new contract is Chubb’s new Controlmaster ZP2 Analogue Addressable Fire Alarm Control Panel, which manages all smoke detectors and sound alarms within individual properties and communal areas on a single wiring loop. The panel detects variations in sensor environments caused by fluctuation of temperature and byproducts of combustion.
Stuart Phillips, building surveyor at Dunedin Canmore, said the upgrades to an addressable detection system will help ensure servicing will be conducted as efficiently and effectively as possible. “Chubb provides the servicing of our existing fire detection systems and highlighted that an addressable detection system would enable individual alarms to be identified without having to search the entire system,” Phillips said.
Chubb was chosen because of its existing relationship with the association’s servicing team, its technology and cost.
The Dunedin Canmore Group is a leading provider of housing and related services in Edinburgh, the Lothian and Fife. It manages more than 5,000 properties in the area, delivers regeneration projects, and works to improve the communities in which it works.
