Chubb installed an addressable fire alarm system comprising both smoke and heat detection throughout the property

The Astley Ainslie hospital has chosen Chubb Fire & Security UK to help protect patients, staff and assets with a new fire protection system. Chubb is part of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp.

A community hospital operated by NHS Lothian, The Astley Ainslie hospital specialises in post-acute care and rehabilitation for patients who have suffered strokes, cardiac disease and brain injuries and is home to Scotland’s first managed clinical network for acquired brain injury.

The new fire protection system was required for the newly refurbished Napier University Building in order to meet fire safety legislation.

Chubb was selected for its design that reused 40 percent of the existing system wiring to cover the refurbished areas of the building and crucially protect all areas of the building with minimal disruption.

Chubb installed an addressable fire alarm system comprising both smoke and heat detection throughout the property. Its implementation required detailed understanding of the existing mechanical extract systems and door access locking systems so both could be integrated seamlessly.

A spokesperson for the NHS Lothian commented that in addition to the detail and knowledge that it took to put forward this proposal Chubb delivered the installation on time and within budget.
