Hazmat Emergencies Local Preparedness (HELP) Award
Dow reaffirms its commitment to supporting emergency responders
As CHEMTREC’s first-ever corporate sponsor of the HELP Award, Dow reaffirms its commitment to supporting emergency responders. The HELP Award was established in 2019 and provides annual funding for hazmat response equipment and training for volunteer firefighters.
Sponsoring this US$ 10,000 award showcases Dow’s commitment to proactive efforts in safeguarding communities, the environment, and the safety of first responders.
HELP Award offers vital funds for fire departments
Each US$ 10,000 HELP Award can be equal to a third of a volunteer fire department’s annual operating budget, making this award’s impact significant on the ability for a department to purchase hazmat equipment or attend advanced training.
The application period is open until September 1, 2023. To be eligible, departments must be over 50% volunteer, serve a population of 25,000 or less, located in the U.S.A. (United States of America) and the person applying or the department chief must be a member of the National Volunteer Fire Council.
