Capacity Trucks, a subsidiary of REV Group, Inc. announces it has produced the first North American hydrogen fuel cell electric hybrid terminal truck built from the ground up.
The company has manufactured two of these trucks, which are currently in operation at the Port of Long Beach, CA. They will be on display and available for test drives at the Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Conference, August 30 – September 2 in Long Beach, California.
Hydrogen fuel cell hybrid EVs
Under a grant awarded in 2019, Capacity Trucks designed these two hydrogen fuel cell hybrid electric vehicles.
They maximize uptime by providing a hydrogen power backup when the electric battery requires recharging. This hydrogen fuel cell hybrid electric terminal truck is designed for operation in intermodal, port, and warehouse/distribution applications.
Emissions-free technologies
In North America, Capacity Trucks is pioneering the way with zero-emissions, battery, and hydrogen fuel cell technology, innovating its first battery-electric vehicle over 10 years ago.
Emissions-free technologies will be telematics and autonomous ready to upgrade to a fully autonomous vehicle
With an ongoing commitment to alternative fuels, Capacity Trucks will continue to advance that technology into a full EV product and the next evolution of hydrogen fuel cell power, expecting maximum rate production for both in 2022.
Both emissions-free technologies will be telematics and autonomous ready with all the componentry to upgrade to a fully autonomous vehicle.
Alternative fuel specialty vehicles
“Since its inception, Capacity Trucks has been a leader in the marketplace,” said Ryan Rockafellow, VP/GM, Capacity Trucks. “With our focus and commitment to alternative fuels, we will continue to lead in this space. As part of REV Group, Inc., we are proud to support the organization’s focus on developing alternative fuel specialty vehicles.”
The Capacity Trucks Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Hybrid terminal truck will be on display at ACT, booth 831. Attendees are invited to experience a ride and drive of the truck at booth 157.
