In September 2019, fire service staff and volunteers will be hosing down cars at Stanground, St Neots, Cambridge and Ely Fire Stations, in order to raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity.

Vehicles of all shapes and sizes are welcome, and owners of mobility scooters, vans, trucks and even push chairs have been known to turn up for their wheels to be scrubbed at past car washes.

Raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity

The event will be raising money for The Fire Fighters Charity, which provides support, rehabilitation and care for fire service personnel across the country.

Car washes in Cambridgeshire are always really well supported by the community"

Cambridgeshire Fire & Rescue Service’s Station Commander - Kevin Turner, the Service’s Charity Coordinator said “Car washes in Cambridgeshire are always really well supported by the community and we hope lots of motorists will pop along on the day, to help us raise funds for this worthwhile charity.

Many fire stations take part in fundraising efforts

He adds, “Earlier in the year, a number of fire stations took part and raised a whopping £5,000 for charity, so we’re hoping to continue with the fantastic fundraising efforts. The donations from these events make a massive difference to the charity, which does some great work supporting fire service staff and their families, from our own service and others across the country.
