BAFE Fire Safety Register has teamed up with building services membership scheme operator, NAPIT to offer a new competency scheme for organizations involved with Grade D fire alarm systems.
Two years in the making, the new scheme will assess the competency of organizations that provide design, installation, commissioning and maintenance services for BS 5839-6 Grade D fire detection and fire alarm systems in domestic premises.
BAFE and NAPIT partner on new Competency Scheme
This new competency scheme is called BAFE DS301 and supports the British Standard BS 5839-6
BAFE (British Approvals for Fire Equipment) is the independent registration body for third-party certificated fire safety service providers across the United Kingdom (UK). It offers third-party certification for contractors working on Grade D systems. This new competency scheme is called BAFE DS301 and supports the British Standard BS 5839-6.
Chris Auger, the Director of Schemes for BAFE said: “We are delighted to officially announce the BAFE DS301 Scheme with NAPIT as the first Licensed Certification Body, who will be delivering assessment for those registered within this scope for the electro-technical sector.”
BAFE and NAPIT partnership
NAPIT is a United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) accredited membership scheme operator in the building services and fabric sector.

DS301 Scheme to raise standards within domestic Sector

The BAFE DS301 Scheme for the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of Grade D fire detection and fire alarm systems in domestic premises is now available for application/assessment via NAPIT.
