Data is indispensable for all areas of modern life. To ensure their high availability, IT infrastructures and data centers must also be protected from physical dangers. Holistic fire protection is therefore of crucial importance.

This is because the risk of fire is particularly high wherever electrical and electronic systems are present or where large amounts of heat are generated using air conditioning systems. At the DATA CENTER WORLD on May 22 and 23, 2024 in Frankfurt/Main at booth F064, WAGNER will present solutions that enable early fire detection and efficient fire prevention and fighting.

Holistic plant-based fire protection

Holistic plant-based fire protection can prevent risks and thus offer personal protection, environmental protection, and property protection.

Each application area has its risk profile and requires an individual risk analysis and definition of protection goals.

Switch or server cabinets

"WAGNER develops the optimal fire protection solution according to the circumstances - for switch or server cabinets as well as for large data centers that include cloud solutions for companies, institutions, private individuals and governments."

"Depending on the application, different technologies are used for fire detection, fire fighting and/or fire prevention. With holistic fire protection, operational interruptions and unplanned power cuts can be avoided," explains Alexander Raimund, head of the Frankfurt branch of WAGNER Deutschland GmbH.

TITANUS ® aspirating smoke detectors

Various TITANUS ® variants enable integration into small server cabinets as well as use in large data centers

The earliest possible fire detection with TITANUS ® aspirating smoke detectors enables rapid intervention in the event of a fire and can thus prevent serious consequential damage.

The aspirating smoke detectors are particularly immune to false alarms, but at the same time are so sensitive that they can detect a cable fire as soon as it starts. Various TITANUS ® variants enable integration into small server cabinets as well as use in large data centers.

FirExting ® gas extinguishing system

In the event of an alarm, the FirExting ® gas extinguishing system offers an efficient solution for residue-free fire fighting. The extinguishing gases used in the protected area fight the fire by removing either the oxygen or the necessary heat energy.

There is no damage caused by extinguishing agents such as water, spray mist or foam. Longer downtimes are avoided.

nitrogen as a natural extinguishing gas

With OxyReduct ®, the company ultimately designed the first oxygen reduction system

WAGNER was the first German supplier to introduce nitrogen as a natural extinguishing gas to the market. With OxyReduct ®, the company ultimately designed the first oxygen reduction system for active fire prevention.

The system creates a protective area with a reduced oxygen concentration and thus prevents flames from breaking out or the fire from spreading under defined conditions - even if a cable starts to smolder. "OxyReduct® was first installed in a data center in 2000. Since then, oxygen reduction has become the heart of the fire protection solution in numerous other IT rooms and data centers," reports Alexander Raimund.

risk management system

The technologies and systems mentioned can be integrated into a uniform risk management system . WAGNER's risk management system visualizes events from various security and information systems on a central user interface.

"This allows the user to keep an overview even in dangerous situations and to react appropriately as quickly as possible. For our customers, this is an added value that gives them security. I am looking forward to showing everyone interested at the trade fair in Frankfurt specific options for how they can secure their data availability with the right fire protection solution."
