Apollo is guaranteeing reliable, quality fire detection technology for its customers

Visitors to the Apollo stand at this year's International Firex were taken on a journey through the company, its products and applications.

Having recently celebrated 30 years in the business, Apollo is highlighting the different aspects of its product development and customer service that have made it the largest independent smoke detector manufacturer in the world.

One of the latest developments from Apollo is its Product Lifetime Guarantee. In a unique move for the industry, the company is guaranteeing all of its products for their recommended working life – which for detectors is ten years (five years for CO detectors). This market-leading guarantee further highlights Apollo’s commitment to supporting its customers by providing them with reliable, quality fire detection technology.

Richard Bramham, Marketing Director at Apollo, says: “This is a powerful new way for Apollo to support its customers while also confirming the confidence that we have in our products. This market leading standard is the first of its kind to be offered by a fire detection manufacturer, but we expect that others may follow our example.”

Another innovation from Apollo is OpenConnect Gateway®, which enables fire detection to be easily and fully integrated with building management 2 systems. This device can be incorporated into a fire control panel and enables the information from a fire system to be communicated to a building management system (and vice versa) using standard protocols such as BACnet™, Modbus® or LonWorks®. Live and video demonstrations of OpenConnect took place at Apollo’s stand, C10, throughout the show.

Apollo’s updated and extended range of wireless fire detectors, XPander, which now includes 31 devices, also appeared at International Firex. XPander has been designed for use in areas where hard-wired fire detection is impossible or impractical, such as historic buildings, remote annexes and temporary structures. XPander is the only product of its kind on the market that has been fully approved to EN54:25.
Apollo also gave a presentation on the “Life Cycle Costs in Fire Detection Systems.” Paul Pope, UK Sales Manager at Apollo, explained why the cheapest product on the shelf may not deliver best value throughout the fire system’s life and provided advice on how to assess best value in fire detection.
