NVFC developed the Heart-Healthy Firefighter Program to provide first responders with resources and tools

The NVFC has also partnered with Pfizer to help first responders quit smoking through the Put It Out campaign.

It's American Heart Month, a time to focus on your health and take steps to make sure you stay heart-healthy all year long. Heart disease is consistently the number one killer in America, and emergency medical personnel are often called on to respond to cardiovascular emergencies. Yet as a first responder, you face added stress on your heart that may increase your risk for heart attack. Unhealthy lifestyle choices can contribute to these risks.

The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) developed the Heart-Healthy Firefighter Program to provide first responders with resources and tools for getting and staying heart healthy. The program is for all first responders volunteer and career, firefighters and emergency medical personnel.

Use the program to learn about heart health and begin a healthy lifestyle that will keep your heart strong and ready for the next call.

From heart basics, fitness, and nutrition, to free health screenings and workshops, the Heart-Healthy Firefighter Program provides an array of resources to protect you so that you can be there for those who depend on you. The NVFC has also partnered with Pfizer to help first responders quit smoking through the Put It Out campaign.
