KARATE MB 15 is superior quality multipurpose fire-fighting foam concentrates for extinguishing and securing flammable hydrocarbon liquid fires even at low ambient temperatures, as low as -15°C and -5°C respectively. Unique formulations are a biodegradable blend of high surface-active foaming agents, foam stabilizers and anti-freezing compounds for use at low, medium and high expansion. It is non-toxic and physiologically harm-less and readily biodegradable. KARATE MB 15 is intended for use at proportioning rates of 0.1% to 3% depending on the purpose of use. It can be applied with conven-tional air aspirating discharge devices as low, medium and high expansion foam or with non-aspirating devices as wetting agent. The foam generated is heat-resistant and stable against combustion gases resulting in a safe and effective fire extin-guishment combined with resistance against re-ignition in fire areas already extin-guished. KARATE MB 15 is perfectly suitable for temporarily sealing of toxic and / or highly flammable liquids and suppression of explosive gas and vapour releases after chemical spillage. Due to balanced formulation the multipurpose foam concentrates can be used with either soft or hard, fresh, brackish, sea or treated industrial water without any deterioration in their excellent performance and effectiveness. Therefore KARATE MB 15 is ideal suited also for the use on ships and in sea-ports. KARATE MB 15 is type approved in accordance with the requirements of the standards DIN EN 1568 Part 1, 2, 3 and 4 (2008) under the certification numbers SP 177/12 and SP 176/12 respectively as fire extinguishing foam concentrates to generate low, medium and high expansion foam for fire ex-tinguishing purposes for the fire classes A and B according DIN EN 2. At a recommended 3% proportioning rate extinguishing performances and burn-back resistances with potable and sea water are for both types of foam concen-trates identically tested and approved: Medium Expansion Foam (EN 1568-1): requirements fully fulfilled High Expansion Foam (EN 1568-2): requirements fully fulfilled Low Expansion Foam (EN 1568-3): III C (heptane) Technical data: Density at 20°C: 1.04 ± 0.02 kg/l Freezing point: -15°C pH-Value at 20°C: 6.5 to 8 Kin. Visconsity at 20°C: < 10 mm²/s at 0°C: < 15 mm²/s at -5°C: < 20 mm²/s at -15°C: < 30 mm²/s Sediments (before and after aging): none
